Next Issue Update

Next issue update

I’m delighted to announce that Professor Edward Blakely will be starting an in-depth series looking at recovery management in the next issue of CRJ.

Ed Blakely has played leading roles in more US disaster recovery programmes than anyone. He is an urban planner with a very long publications list as an academic, and an equally long list of projects he has worked on with both government and the private sectors. Dr Blakely is still active in the disaster arena, advising from his home in Australia where is associated with the United State Studies Centre at the University of Sydney.

Ed plans to share insights on how recovery can be an opportunity to make better cities and not just re-build what existed previously, which should be an interesting continuation of the theme that the current issue of CRJ is examining, ie that of urban resilience.

Ed's website is www.blakleycitytalk.com, where he hosts podcasts on urban living and disaster management.
